Essential Tools for HR professionals

Human Resources is responsible for managing and catering to the needs of every employee in an organization. It is regarded as the “mission-critical hub” that keeps the entire workforce functioning smoothly. Moreover, given that they also have to deal with most of the paperwork for day-to-day dealings of their organization, this job can often become demanding.

To help ease their workload, here are a few tools for HR.

Advantage Club:

Slack:

Slack is a popular team communication platform and has an easy to use interface which allows employees to send text messages, make video calls and even send files to each other. The communications can be divided into channels on the basis of topics, projects, teams, departments or whatever the need be.

It has a great utility for human resources as it can help streamline the employee onboarding process by introducing them to the workplace culture, allowing them to share resources and answer any queries they might have. Moreover, Slack also allows addition of external parties such as clients, stakeholders or partners into company chats, which makes it a great tool for project management as well.

Google Forms:

Google Forms is a free, easy to use and a versatile tool used by many HR departments worldwide. It can be used to create surveys to figure out employee needs and improve communication with the workforce. It allows them to understand the impact of current policies, keep tabs on employee satisfaction, and identify critical workplace challenges. It is simple and effective and requires nothing more than a google account.

Versant:

Versant is a tool which makes use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to determine an employee’s fluency in english. The tool is made by Pearson, the world’s leading education company. It tests candidates’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, allowing HR professionals to evaluate how easily someone can handle different workplace tasks, like speaking with customers over the phone or writing clear emails to co-workers. It also provides an Intelligibility Index Score which is an objective way to determine how well someone pronounces words or expresses their thoughts – both things that are important for effective workplace communication, but easily overlooked. 

SAP Litmos:

SAP Litmos is a learning management system which can be used for training and development of new employees. It has a simple interface with great accessibility which makes it easier to create and manage courses for employees. It also has unique features, such as achievements, points, and badges, which allow for some healthy competition between employees, which is a great way to increase employee engagement. Litmos also allows for easy tracking of employee progress by providing metrics such as attendance and registration. It also contains discussion boards, incorporates gamification with leaderboards, and is accessible anywhere and anytime on all devices.

Calendly:

Often touted as the “World’s #1 scheduling tool”, Calendly is a simple automated scheduling system that allows employees and HRs to schedule meetings without the hassle of making phone calls or sending emails. It can synchronize with upto 6 different calendars simultaneously check availability and provides for different kinds of meetings such as one-on-one, round-robin, and group. It also integrates very easily with websites and also allows creation of custom integrations with their powerful API.

Trello:

Trello is a web-based, Kanban-style, list-making application. Users can create their task boards with different columns and move the tasks between them. Typically columns include task statuses such as To Do, In Progress, Done. The tool can be used for personal and business purposes including real estate management, software project management, school bulletin boards, lesson planning, accounting, web design, gaming, and law office case management.

Loom:

Loom is a video messaging tool for work, which allows users to record and share their screen and/or camera. This platform has great utility, especially for employees working from home. It can be used to provide quick updates to teams and share a step-by-step progress at the same time. 

Loom is easy to install and use regardless of your level of technological know-how. Its user experience is top notch, users can choose to record with or without camera, and it’s easy to edit screen recordings.

The role of Human Resources is often underestimated. Organizations need to realize that the efficiency of their HR department directs the performance of the company as a whole. Hence, they must put some serious efforts and direct some resources towards workday tools for HR.
